Golf Courses

Welsh Border Golf Complex offers two quite different courses, both with vistas unsurpassed in the West Midlands. From one, as players turn their backs on the Breiddens immediately behind them, they drive towards the South Shropshire hills, the Stiperstones, the Wrekin, and even the Clees. From the other, the view is north and west towards the Shropshire-Cheshire plain and the Berwyns, with sentinel-like Rodney's Pillar also prominent.

New for 2010, was the opening of new tees for seven of the longer competition course's nine holes, making their character markedly different second time round on the back nine. Now, in the par-70 eighteen, there are par-fives of 549, 523 and 488 yards, a 483 yard par four, and five par threes.

The short course has three par-four holes, the rest are par threes. It is an ideal course for the beginner and improver.

There is also a 10-bay, under-cover driving range, with distances marked from 50 to 200 yards.

The attached and fully-affiliated Welsh Border club has men's, ladies and senior sections, all thriving and working together. Men's monthly medals and other competitions mean organised events are held on many Sundays.

Seniors' day is Monday, ladies' Wednesday, on most of which days there are organised events of some kind.

Seniors have many friendly matches with other clubs, as do ladies, but there is plenty of time and opportunity for social golf.
